The Odisha Vigilance department says a labour officer was caught taking money from a contractor.

The officer was identified as Akash Bisoi, the District Labour Officer in Kendujhar.

The contractor needed a labour licence for an electrical work project.

Investigators allege that Bisoi demanded Rs 20,000 to issue the licence.

Officials say the contractor reported the demand to Vigilance authorities.

They then arranged a trap and say Bisoi was caught accepting the money.

Searches of his government quarters reportedly found cash and gold jewellery.
