Delivery, ride-hailing and home services — Gig workers earn 2.5x compared to similar formal and informal jobs: Report · livemint.com

A report studied people who earn money through delivery, driving and home-service platforms in India.

It found that these workers earn about ₹138 per hour on average.

Similar formal and informal jobs pay about ₹54 per hour, according to the report.

More than nine out of ten gig workers work part-time.

The report says workers can develop skills such as customer service, time management and using digital tools.

It also says gig work could help fill many of India’s future non-farm jobs.
