DGGI Proposes ₹40,603 Crore GST Liability Against Mahadev Network
Tax officials are investigating a large online betting network called Mahadev Book.
They say the network handled transactions worth about ₹1.45 lakh crore.
Officials have proposed more than ₹40,603 crore in GST taxes.
The investigation covers transactions made between April 2020 and March 2024.
It looked at nearly 2,000 betting panels.
These panels allegedly received money from customers and gave them betting credits.
Investigators also examined bank accounts that may have been used to move the money.
The allegations have not been established through a final ruling in the notices.
The Directorate General of GST Intelligence issued two show-cause notices on August 26, 2026, over alleged GST violations linked to the Mahadev Book network.
Investigators estimated the network’s taxable transaction value at ₹1,45,010.77 crore and proposed more than ₹40,603 crore in GST liability.
