Karnataka Seeks Full-Fledged US Consulate in Bengaluru, CM Says
Karnataka is a part of India, and its leader wanted to ask America for something important.
His name is DK Shivakumar and he is the Chief Minister of Karnataka.
He asked the United States to open a big official office called a consulate in Bengaluru.
He said the state will give America the best place they can find for it.
The American Ambassador, Sergio Gor, came to Bengaluru to visit.
He said that more than 1,000 American companies work in Karnataka.
India and America trade a lot of things together, and the amount they trade has grown very big.
The two countries want to work together on technology, health and safety.
Everyone at the meeting was happy about the friendship between India and America.
Karnataka Chief Minister DK Shivakumar reiterated the state's demand for a full-fledged US Consulate in Bengaluru during an event with US Ambassador Sergio Gor.
Shivakumar said the state government is ready to provide the 'best possible place' for the consulate, not just a trade office.
US Ambassador Sergio Gor said Karnataka is home to more than 1,000 American companies, a number that is growing day by day.
Gor noted India-US bilateral trade has grown from around USD 20 billion a decade ago to over USD 240 billion today.
Gor met Shivakumar to discuss innovation and investment and held talks with industry leaders on advanced manufacturing, technology, space and environmental sectors.
