AQMC Reviews Telangana Air Quality, Pollution-Control Measures
Telangana’s air-quality committee reviewed pollution levels and plans to reduce pollution.
From 2019–20 to 2025–26, particle pollution went down in Hyderabad and Sangareddy.
It went up in Nalgonda.
The air quality in all three places was mostly rated Satisfactory or Moderate.
Officials are planning more stations to measure air quality and have already installed some low-cost sensors.
They also want to reduce dust from roads and encourage cleaner travel.
Cameras may help identify vehicles whose pollution certificates have expired.
Electric buses are already running in Hyderabad, and more are planned.
Hyderabad’s annual average PM10 fell from 86 µg/m³ in 2019–20 to 80 µg/m³ in 2025–26; Sangareddy’s declined from 87 to 78 µg/m³.
Nalgonda’s annual average PM10 rose from 59 to 71 µg/m³ over the same period; AQI in all three areas was mostly Satisfactory to Moderate.
The committee reviewed the CPCB-approved action plan, covering monitoring, pollution sources, road dust, vehicle emissions, green cover and public awareness.
Plans include 13 continuous monitoring stations in the CURE area; eight low-cost sensors are already installed in Bollaram and Jeedimetla.
Measures also include road-dust controls, cameras for expired PUC certificates, and expanding electric-bus services.
