Three Indian athletes qualify for World Athletics U20 finals
The World Athletics U20 Championships is a big sports event where the best young athletes under 20 years old compete.
India sent a team of young athletes to this event.
On the first day, three of them did very well.
Ashish Yadav and T Dharanidharan throw the javelin, a long spear, and both made it to the final round.
Ashish threw it almost 70 meters, which is very far.
Amanat Kamboj throws the discus, a heavy round plate, and also reached the final with her best throw of the season.
Runner Mogali Venkatram also moved one step closer to a medal in the 800 meter race.
The 4x400 meter mixed relay team did not make it past the first round.
The javelin final will happen on Friday.
Javelin throwers Ashish Yadav and T Dharanidharan and discus thrower Amanat Kamboj qualified for finals at the World Athletics U20 Championships.
Ashish Yadav topped Group A with 69.87m, finishing second overall behind South Africa's Jan-Hendrik Heymans (76.02m).
Amanat Kamboj claimed the 12th and final spot in the women's discus final with a season's best throw of 52.58m.
Mogali Venkatram reached the men's 800m semifinals, while Uwin Anand was eliminated in the heats.
India's 4x400m mixed relay team exited in Round 1 (3:22.85), as USA topped the heat standings with 3:18.26.
