Delhi University Eases Promotion Rule for 2025-26 Undergraduates
Delhi University has changed one promotion rule for students who started undergraduate study in 2025-26.
Normally, students must earn 28 out of 44 credits after their first year to move ahead.
For this batch only, that credit requirement is being waived.
Students still have to follow the university’s other rules.
The change is based on the university’s undergraduate framework linked to the National Education Policy.
It was approved through decisions of the Academic Council and Executive Council.
Students joining in later years will not receive this special exemption.
Separately, from 2026-27, some fourth-year study options will receive four additional credits.
University of Delhi has granted a one-time promotion relaxation to students enrolled in the 2025-26 undergraduate batch.
Eligible students who completed their first year will not need to secure 28 of 44 credits for promotion.
The relaxation follows the National Education Policy-based Undergraduate Curriculum Framework 2022 and university council resolutions.
The exemption applies only to the 2025-26 batch; all other credit and promotion rules remain unchanged.
From 2026-27, fourth-year dissertation, academic project and entrepreneurship tracks will receive 10 credits instead of six.
