India-Bhutan Strengthen Ties with Modi's Visit
Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Bhutan in November 2025 to celebrate the 70th birth anniversary of the Fourth Druk Gyalpo and the Global Peace Prayer Festival.
During his visit, Modi and Bhutan's King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck inaugurated the Punatsangchhu-II Hydroelectric Project, which will significantly increase Bhutan's hydropower capacity.
India also extended a Rs 40 billion line of credit to support further energy and development projects in Bhutan.
The visit included several agreements on renewable energy, health, and mental health cooperation, as well as the establishment of the Gelephu Mindfulness City, a $100 billion eco-tech hub.
