ICAI Plans AI-Focused CA Curriculum and Global Programme
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India wants to update how future accountants are taught.
The new lessons may include artificial intelligence, data analysis, sustainability and investigating financial wrongdoing.
A special committee will review the current course and suggest changes.
The committee will also examine practical training, communication skills and exams.
ICAI already teaches some technology skills through separate programmes.
It plans to create a more advanced AI course for students.
It is also training current accountants in AI, cybersecurity and digital forensics.
ICAI is creating an international version of its CA course for students in other countries.
Most subjects would be the same, but tax and law lessons would follow each country’s rules.
ICAI is reviewing the CA curriculum to add artificial intelligence, data analytics, sustainability, ESG and forensic auditing.
The Committee for Review of Education and Training will examine the syllabus, practical training, soft skills and examinations, with recommendations expected by December.
ICAI is expanding AI training through AURA 2.0 for students and the AICA certificate programme for members.
The institute is upgrading DISA 3.0 to DISA 4.0 and adding programmes in digital forensics, data protection and cybersecurity audit.
ICAI is developing an international CA curriculum, with country-specific adaptations for taxation and law and potential partnerships in Mauritius, Nepal, Africa and Singapore.
