Samsung India Job Cuts Expand Amid Costs And Muted Demand
Samsung India lays off senior staffs, plans more job cuts as costs rise, demand remains muted · telegraphindia.com

Samsung India has started reducing the number of workers in its consumer electronics business.

So far, about 8 to 10 managers and other senior employees have lost their jobs.

The company may remove 40 to 50 more positions soon.

Samsung says the changes are connected to higher costs and weaker customer demand, according to industry sources.

It is also combining some offices, which may remove additional jobs.

Samsung remains a leading television seller in India.

However, it faces strong competition in appliances and smartphones.

Apple competes with it in expensive phones, while Chinese brands compete in cheaper and mid-priced phones.

Samsung’s smartphone division is not expected to have immediate job cuts because the company expects sales to improve during the festive season.
