Two Girls Drown; Two Women Arrested in Jalpaiguri

Residents said excavation for embankment construction had created a 10-to-15-foot-deep pit in the riverbed.
Police recovered the girls and took them to Sulkapara block hospital, where doctors declared them dead.
In a separate case, police arrested two women and seized about 700 grams of brown sugar in Jalpaiguri town.
