Investment Frauds Account for 60% of Telangana Cybercrime Losses
Some people on the internet try to trick others into giving them money by promising big profits from stocks or business deals.
In the Indian state of Telangana, these investment tricks cause most of the money lost to online crime.
The police started a special program called 'Suraksha Ka Tiranga' to teach people how to stay safe online.
The state's top police officer, C.V. Anand, said people should stop and check before they share money or personal information.
Anyone who is tricked can call 1930 to report it to the police quickly.
In 2025, online crime complaints went up across India, but Telangana had fewer complaints and lost less money.
In the first half of 2026, Telangana did even better, with fewer complaints and losses.
The police also got better at stopping stolen money from being taken out of bank accounts.
Because of this good work, Telangana got the top rank in the country for handling online crime.
Stock trading and business investment frauds account for nearly 60 per cent of financial losses suffered by cybercrime victims in Telangana.
TGCSB organised the 'Suraksha Ka Tiranga – Towards a Cyber Independent Telangana' awareness campaign in Hyderabad ahead of Independence Day.
Cybercrime complaints across India rose 24 per cent in 2025, while Telangana recorded a three per cent decline and a 20.2 per cent fall in financial losses.
In the first half of 2026, Telangana complaints declined by 10.2 per cent and financial losses by 26.8 per cent, with funds put on hold rising from 21 to 29 per cent.
DGP C.V. Anand urged citizens to pause and verify before sharing money or personal information and to report fraud through 1930 or the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal.
