Election Commission to Review Recent Voter Revision Decisions
India’s Election Commission is holding a meeting on Wednesday evening.
It will look at decisions made during the previous week.
Much of the discussion will involve checking and updating voter lists.
This process is called the Special Intensive Revision, or SIR.
Some people had been asked to attend hearings about mistakes in their forms.
The Election Commission has decided that these people will not have to appear in person anymore.
In states where the checking process is finished, a new-voter form will also change.
That form will no longer ask for information about a person’s parents from the previous voter list.
