Fake Baba Fraud Leaves Indore Family ₹31,200 Poorer
A family in Indore received a phone call from a man pretending to be a spiritual leader.
He said his spiritual readings showed that the family’s youngest son would be bitten by a poisonous snake.
He offered to stop this from happening by performing special rituals.
The family first sent him ₹6,200.
The next day, he asked for ₹25,000 and said it would be returned later.
He then invented another story about a snake sitting on the money and demanded even more.
He threatened that the son would die if the family did not pay.
The family realized it was a scam and reported it to the police.
A caller posing as a spiritual leader warned that Sajida Bi’s youngest son would suffer a deadly snakebite.
The family paid ₹6,200 through a UPI QR code linked to the name “Sameer Khan.”
The caller later demanded ₹25,000, saying it was a refundable ritual deposit based on the son’s age.
He then claimed a powerful snake was sitting on the money and demanded another ₹25,000.
Firdos Shah reported the fraud to Khajrana police, who registered a case and began investigating.
