Darjeeling Himalayan Railway Train Becomes AI Coding Classroom
A special Darjeeling Himalayan Railway train will become a classroom for one day.
About 90 young people will travel from Kurseong to Darjeeling and back.
They will learn AI coding during the journey.
The programme is meant to encourage Digital India and computer skills.
It combines the railway’s old heritage with new technology.
Darjeeling station will also hold art, photography and interactive competitions.
Music, traditional dances, exhibitions and student awards are planned.
A similar coding event is expected at the Ghum Winter Festival 2026.
Around 90 youths will join live AI coding sessions aboard a special train on September 5.
The train will travel from Kurseong to Darjeeling and return, leaving around 10am and arriving back by 5pm.
Three coaches hauled by a diesel locomotive will carry participants during the programme.
The initiative, themed “Merging Heritage with Tech”, aims to promote Digital India and technology literacy.
Station Mahotsav activities in Darjeeling will include competitions, performances, exhibitions and a short-film premiere.
