Haryana Raises Honorarium and Benefits for Rural Sanitation Workers
The Haryana government has announced more money and support for rural sanitation workers.
Their monthly payment will increase from Rs 16,000 to Rs 18,100.
They will receive back payments for the increase starting in January 2026.
Workers sent to other villages will get Rs 200 for each day of that work.
Their yearly clothing and washing allowances will also increase.
If a worker dies while doing the job, one family member can receive a government job through compassionate appointment.
Officials will help families complete death-claim paperwork for EPF and ESI benefits.
Payments must be made by the seventh day of each month, or officials may have to pay a penalty.
Monthly honorarium for Gramin Safai Karmis will rise by Rs 2,100, from Rs 16,000 to Rs 18,100, with arrears from January 2026.
Workers deployed outside their villages will receive an allowance of Rs 200 per day.
Annual uniform and washing allowances have increased to Rs 6,000 and Rs 1,500, respectively.
One family member of a sanitation worker who dies on duty will be eligible for compassionate appointment.
Monthly honorariums must be paid by the seventh day, with a Rs 2,500 penalty for delays.
