A woman in Navi Mumbai said a masked man in a red Thar touched her inappropriately.

The incident happened around 10:30 p.m.

on September 30.

The vehicle had a number plate that did not belong to it.

Police used camera recordings, phone-location information and vehicle records to find the Thar.

They also checked information from Mahindra service centres.

Investigators compared 62 red Thars registered in the area.

They eventually identified the vehicle by its original number, MH 20 FU 3751.

Police arrested its alleged driver, Ali alias Talib Ahsan Naqvi, within 10 hours.

Police are checking whether he may be connected to other similar incidents.
