CBI Arrests CPWD Engineer in Mumbai ₹50-Lakh Bribery Case
The CBI says a government engineer allegedly asked for money to issue an official land certificate.
This certificate was called a No-Objection Certificate, or NOC.
It concerned land in Mumbai where a real estate group wanted to build a project.
Investigators say the demand started at ₹1 crore and was later reduced to ₹70 lakh.
A relative allegedly accepted the first payment of ₹50 lakh.
The CBI caught the relative carrying the money on October 1.
The engineer was arrested in Vashi while waiting to receive the payment.
Three people connected with the real estate group were also arrested, and investigators found more cash and documents.
