UN Chief Guterres to Attend India’s BRICS Summit

Antonio Guterres leads the United Nations.

He is scheduled to visit India for a large meeting called the BRICS Summit.

India is hosting the meeting because it is chairing BRICS this year.

The summit will happen on September 12 and 13 in New Delhi.

Leaders from BRICS countries, partner countries and invited countries are expected to attend.

Russia’s Vladimir Putin, China’s Xi Jinping and Iran’s Masoud Pezeshkian are also expected.

Guterres’s spokesperson said the visit was scheduled, although one briefing said the official announcement had not yet been made.

The meeting will focus on resilience, new ideas, cooperation and sustainability.

Guterres may also use the gathering for diplomatic discussions with other leaders.
