Flood-Rescued Elephant Joymoti Airlifted to Vantara for Treatment
Joymoti is a 53-year-old elephant who survived a flood in Nagaland.
The flood caused her to be swept away before local people and state departments rescued her.
She has many injuries, including serious wounds and a damaged right eye.
She also has trouble walking because of an old leg fracture from logging.
Local veterinarians gave her first aid and medicines after the rescue.
Because her injuries are complicated, she was taken by air to Vantara in Jamnagar.
Doctors there will examine her and provide more advanced care.
She is expected to return to her natural habitat after she gets better.

Vantara says the transfer is temporary and that Joymoti will return to her natural habitat after recovering.
