Tripura Ships Certified Organic Rice to Austria and Netherlands
Tripura has sent 18 tonnes of special organic rice to Austria and the Netherlands.
The rice comes in four varieties, including aromatic, sticky and black rice.
Farmer Producer Companies helped collect the rice from local growers.
A company called Pratithi Organic Foods is exporting it.
APEDA helped farmers meet international buyers and organise the shipment.
Officials hope selling abroad will help farmers earn up to 40 per cent more.
The export also shows that Tripura’s farmers can meet international rules for quality, safety and certification.
The government says it will continue supporting organic farming and exports.
APEDA facilitated the export of 18 metric tonnes of four NPOP-certified rice varieties from Tripura.
The shipment includes Kali Khasa, Harinarayan, Biron and Maimi Hanga rice.
The rice is being exported to Austria and the Netherlands by Pratithi Organic Foods.
Officials said the initiative could increase farmer price realisation by up to 40 per cent.
The export follows an APEDA-organised buyer-seller meeting aimed at connecting Tripura producers with international markets.
