Ranchi court grants bail to man in ink attack on AISA president
Some students in Ranchi were walking to the state Assembly building to complain about problems with exam recruitment.
While they were marching, a man named Amarnath Pandey threw ink at Neha Bora, who is the president of a student group called AISA.
Police caught him right away, and later he was arrested.
A few days later, a court gave him bail, which lets him go free for now.
He had to give the court two promises, or bonds, of Rs 10,000 each.
The court also said he cannot say anything bad about Neha Bora on any platform.
The man said he did not like her because he believes she supports someone the government arrested, and he called her 'anti-national.'
The court said the case will continue, and until then he must follow the rules of his bail.
The Ranchi Civil Court on Tuesday granted bail to Amarnath Pandey, who threw ink at All India Students' Association (AISA) president Neha Bora.
Bail was granted after furnishing two bail bonds of Rs 10,000 each, on the condition that Pandey refrain from making any statement against Bora on any platform.
The incident occurred near Birsa Chowk on August 7 when AISA, AISF and other student organisations were marching to the Jharkhand Assembly to protest alleged irregularities in recruitment exams.
Pandey was detained immediately after throwing the ink and was arrested later; he was booked under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) based on the statement of AISA state secretary Santosh Kumar alias Trilokinath.
Pandey said he disliked Bora because he considers her a 'supporter of Umar Khalid and an anti-national'; Umar Khalid was arrested in September 2020 under UAPA over the February 2020 riots.
