Bombay High Court Grants Interim Relief To Former TISS Student
A former student named Kamakhya Prasad Das went to a big college in Mumbai called TISS.
Last October, he and some friends gathered on campus to remember a professor who had passed away.
At that gathering, some people shouted slogans that the police did not like.
The police opened a case, saying the gathering was not allowed.
Mr. Das was worried he might be arrested, so he asked a court for protection.
A judge named Justice Prafulla Khubalkar said he could not be arrested for now.
The judge said the police already have Mr. Das's phone and laptop, so they do not need to question him in jail.
Mr. Das's lawyer says he did nothing wrong, but the police think the case is part of a bigger conspiracy.
Mr. Das has to come back to court on August 31 for the next hearing.
