Indian shares slip as earnings, supply issues drive moves
Shares are small pieces of companies that people can buy and sell, and their prices change every day.
Companies tell everyone how they did every few months, and that news can make their share price go up or down.
On August 7, the big stock markets in India went down a little bit overall.
Some companies had very good news and their shares went up.
Britannia, which makes biscuits, made more money, and its shares rose.
Siemens Energy had a very strong quarter and its shares jumped almost 12 percent.
Waaree Energies, a solar power company, said it was starting a new clean energy business, and its shares went up a little.
Other companies had harder times.
Vikram Solar made much less profit even though it sold more, so its shares went down.
Crompton Greaves, which makes electrical products, went down because it has problems getting the parts it needs.
People who buy shares watch these reports to decide what to do with their money.
Indian benchmark indices traded lower on August 7, with Nifty 50 near 24,535 and BSE Sensex near 78,450.
