The Slum Rehabilitation Authority is building permanent homes for people living in slums in Thane.

Homes have already been given to 7,545 slum dwellers through 54 completed projects.

More homes are being built in 26 other projects.

These projects cover nearly 10,000 more slum dwellers.

The projects are also expected to create thousands of flats for people affected by other development work.

Another 59 proposals could help more than 22,000 slum dwellers.

Some proposals are still waiting for approvals or official notifications.

Officials say they are working to remove delays so eligible families can move into safe homes.
