Fifteen councillors from the Trinamool Congress voted to remove Inzamam-ul-Islam as chairman of Dhuliyan Municipality.

The vote took place on Tuesday.

The councillors had already filed a no-confidence motion against him on August 3.

They said he had not served people properly.

They also accused him of associating with Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury.

Islam and five Congress councillors did not vote.

The final result was 15 votes against him and none in support.

Islam later tried to join Congress, but the party rejected his entry because of allegations against him.
