Auto drivers in Kurnool held a protest on Monday.

Their union, linked to AITUC, wants the government to create a special welfare board.

The board would provide health insurance through ESI and retirement savings through Provident Fund benefits.

The drivers also want help after accidents and access to other welfare programs.

They say high traffic fines are difficult for daily earners to pay.

The union wants the government to provide promised yearly assistance and interest-free loans for new autos.

It also requested free education for drivers’ children and housing support.
