Vile Parle high-rise fire kills 2, injures 4 in Mumbai
In Mumbai, a big city in India, there is a very tall apartment building.
One night, a fire started on the 11th floor.
People living there were trapped and needed help.
The fire grew fast, and firefighters called it a "level 2" fire.
Firefighters rushed to the building to rescue people one by one.
Sadly, two people died in the fire — a little child named Abir, who was two and a half years old, and a young woman named Ankita, who was 23 years old.
Four other people were hurt and had to go to the hospital.
Thick smoke filled the building, making it hard for firefighters to see.
After nearly two hours of hard work, firefighters got the fire under control around midnight and sprayed water to cool things down.
It was a very sad night for everyone in the building.
A fire broke out on the 11th floor of a ground-plus-12-storey residential building on Baptista Road, Vile Parle West, Mumbai, on Tuesday night.
Two people died: 2.5-year-old Abir and 23-year-old Ankita, according to the BMC disaster management cell.
Four civilians were injured — Parth (32), Hiren (64), Yashasvi and Abhishek — one report gives Yashasvi's age as 33.
The Mumbai Fire Brigade received the call around 10:02 pm, declared the fire Level-1 at 10:08 pm and escalated it to Level-2 at 10:16 pm.
The blaze was extinguished around midnight to 1 am; heavy smoke hampered rescue, and the cause of the fire has not been established.
Article 3 reports a total of eight injured, adding that fireman Manoj Sonavane (30) and Shivam Dwivedi (29) were treated and discharged from Cooper Hospital.
