Anantapur Opens Special Rice Counters Amid Rising Prices
Rice prices in the open market have been increasing in Anantapur.
The district administration opened four special counters to sell rice at lower prices.
These counters are meant to help poor and middle-class families.
People can buy steam rice for Rs 52 per kilogram and raw rice for Rs 50 per kilogram.
The amount each Aadhaar or ration card can buy has increased from 10 kg to 26 kg.
The counters are open in the morning and afternoon.
Officials will check the rice quality, weight and prices.
Civil Supplies and Marketing officials will work with rice millers to keep the counters supplied.
Anantapur launched a Market Intervention Program in response to rising open-market rice prices.
Four special counters were opened in Anantapur, Guntakal, Rayadurg and Tadipatri.
The counters sell steam rice at Rs 52 per kg and raw rice at Rs 50 per kg.
The purchase limit has increased from 10 kg to 26 kg per Aadhaar or ration card.
Officials will inspect the counters, while departments and rice millers coordinate to maintain supply and prevent misuse.
