Andhra Pradesh Police Open First State Sports Meet
Andhra Pradesh police officers are taking part in a large sports competition.
DGP Harish Kumar Gupta opened the first state-level police sports meet in Mangalagiri.
About 1,900 police sportspersons from 16 teams are competing.
Another 450 people are helping run the event.
The DGP said sports can make police officers fitter and more mentally alert.
He said these skills help officers make quick decisions and work together during difficult situations.
He also told participants to be disciplined and humble when they win.
The four-day event will finish on September 4.

About 1,900 police sportspersons from 16 ranges and units are competing.
A further 450 officials, coaches, technical staff, managers and support personnel are involved.
Gupta said fitness, mental alertness, teamwork and stress management are vital for policing.
The four-day meet will continue until September 4 at VIT-AP University and Acharya Nagarjuna University.
