Thane Model Attacks RPF Staff With Razor on Train, Gets Bail
A woman who works as a model got onto a train called the Aravali Express.
She only had a ticket for the cheaper sleeper section, but she went into the nicer air-conditioned coach and sat in a seat that was already reserved for another passenger.
When someone asked her to move, she said no, so a passenger told the train staff and the railway police.
The police say she got very angry, shouted at them, took off her clothes, and hurt one officer with a small razor blade.
She also hurt herself, and the officer's uniform and phone were damaged.
The railway police locked the coach doors so things would not get worse, and she tried to break the glass to get away.
She was taken off the train at Dahanu station and later brought to the Borivali police.
She asked to be arrested and calmed down after the police wrote up the report.
She was let go on bail, which means she can leave but must come back to court later.
Some news sites showed a picture of a different woman named Antarra Banerjee by mistake, but that woman said no case was filed against her.
Model Antara Soham Banerjee, 31, of Thane allegedly attacked Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel and a ticket checker with a razor blade aboard the Aravali Express on August 12.
The dispute began when she entered a reserved AC coach holding only a sleeper-class ticket and refused to vacate a reserved seat while travelling to Surat for a shoot.
According to the FIR, she allegedly abused officials, undressed, brandished a blade, and injured RPF ASI Yaminikant Mishra as well as herself; Mishra's uniform and mobile phone were also damaged.
RPF personnel secured the coach doors; she allegedly tried to break the glass to escape before being deboarded at Dahanu and handed over to the Government Railway Police (GRP).
The August 13 FIR booked her for endangering safety, grievous harm to public servants, assault and intentional insult; she was served a notice and released on bail.
