Antara Banerjee Arrested for Train Razor Attack on RPF Personnel
An actress named Antara Banerjee was riding on a train called the Aravali Express.
Her ticket was only for a regular sleeping coach, but she went into a special air-conditioned coach where her ticket did not allow her to sit.
Another passenger with a valid ticket asked her to give up the seat, and she said no.
Train staff and police officers came to talk to her, and the situation got out of control.
The police say she took out a razor blade and hurt a police officer and herself.
Officers locked the doors of the coach so nobody else would get hurt.
She allegedly tried to break the glass, but the train stopped at Dahanu station, where she was taken off the train.
She was taken to the police station and held until the next morning.
Police think she may have been upset because she could not get the air-conditioned seat she wanted.
She was later allowed to go home after getting bail.
Model and web series actress Antara Banerjee, 31, was arrested after allegedly attacking Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel with a razor blade aboard the Aravali Express on August 12.
Banerjee, travelling to Surat for a shoot, allegedly entered a reserved AC coach despite holding only a sleeper-class ticket and refused a passenger's request to vacate the reserved seat.
When RPF assistant sub-inspector Yaminikant Mishra and constable Rajesh Kumar intervened, she allegedly abused officials, undressed, brandished a razor blade and injured Mishra as well as herself.
RPF personnel secured the AC coach doors during the hour-long episode while she allegedly tried to break the glass; she was deboarded at Dahanu railway station and handed to the Government Railway Police (GRP).
An August 13 FIR booked her for endangering safety, causing grievous harm to public servants, assault and intentional insult; she was served a notice and later released on bail.
