Women Tie Rakhis to Telangana Transport Minister During Bus Ride
Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar rode a public bus in Telangana during Rakhi Purnima.
He travelled from Pandilla to Husnabad bus station.
Women passengers tied friendship-and-family bracelets called rakhis to him.
They also wished each other well for the festival.
The minister asked women how they felt about free bus travel.
This free travel is provided through the government’s Mahalakshmi Scheme.
He said women had received travel services worth about Rs 12,000 crore.
He also thanked bus drivers and conductors for working during the festival.
More buses were run because many people wanted to travel.
