India Gives Over 80 Lakh HPV Vaccine Doses Nationwide
India is giving a vaccine to help protect girls from cervical cancer later in life.
The national program began in February 2026.
More than 80 lakh doses have been given so far.
The vaccine is free and is offered to 14-year-old girls with their parents’ permission.
Several states have vaccinated all or most of the girls they identified as eligible.
Doctors, teachers and community health workers are helping families learn about the vaccine.
A digital system called U-WIN helps officials see where more vaccinations are needed.
The government says it will continue working to reach every eligible girl.
More than 80 lakh HPV vaccine doses have been administered under India’s national campaign since its launch in February 2026.
Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Mizoram reported 100% coverage of their identified target populations.
Bihar, Andhra Pradesh and Assam exceeded 90% coverage, while Karnataka surpassed 85%.
The voluntary, free, single-dose vaccine is offered to 14-year-old girls at government health facilities with parental consent.
The campaign uses healthcare workers, communities and the U-WIN platform to expand access, monitor coverage and identify missed beneficiaries.
