Putin Highlights BRICS GDP Share While Questioning G7
Russian President Vladimir Putin compared two groups of countries called BRICS and the G7.
He said BRICS countries produced more than 40% of the world’s GDP during the last five years.
He said the G7 produced 29% during the same period.
Putin used the comparison to argue that BRICS has become economically very important.
He made the comments at a business meeting in New Delhi.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was present and later repeated the same statistics.
The two leaders also talked about cooperation between India and Russia.
They said discussions and diplomacy are important for dealing with conflicts.
Putin invited Modi to visit Russia for another annual summit.
