Uzbekistan says the change should help tourists and businesspeople travel more easily.

The two countries also want to increase trade, investment and cultural exchanges.

Mirziyoyev said trade between the countries passed one billion U.S. dollars last year.

He said the number of joint ventures had grown seven times.

The countries also have 14 direct flights each week and cultural links involving yoga and Indian studies.
