102 Marriages Held at Tiruporur Murugan Temple, Causing Congestion
Many couples got married at the Tiruporur Murugan Temple on Sunday.
There were 102 weddings in total.
Seventy-two couples had booked their ceremonies ahead of time.
Thirty more couples came without bookings.
The day was considered auspicious because it was the first waxing-moon day of the Tamil month of Avani.
Weddings took place in several parts of the temple.
Relatives, friends and other devotees made the temple very crowded.
Nearby wedding halls also held ceremonies.
This caused traffic jams on nearby roads, including Old Mahabalipuram Road.
A total of 102 marriages were conducted at Tiruporur Kandaswamy Murugan Temple on Sunday.
Seventy-two weddings had been booked in advance, while 30 couples arrived without prior bookings.
Ceremonies took place in several temple locations, including the 16-pillared hall and various mandapams.
The weddings caused severe overcrowding inside the temple and made movement difficult for devotees and families.
More than 15 nearby marriage halls also hosted weddings, contributing to traffic congestion on Mada Streets and Old Mahabalipuram Road.
