Former Bidhannagar TMC Councillor Chakraborty Charged With Organised Crime
There is a man named Debraj Chakraborty who used to be a local leader.
He worked for a city council called the Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation.
Police say he cheated people and scared them into giving him money.
They think he may have taken about ₹200 crore from 18 people.
The police finished looking into these complaints and sent a chargesheet to a court in Barasat.
A chargesheet is a big list of the wrong things a person is accused of doing.
He is accused of things like extortion and criminal conspiracy.
If a court says he is guilty, he could go to jail for the rest of his life.
He was also arrested last month for a different case.
Police say there are more cases against him that they are still working on.

The chargesheet invokes provisions related to organised crime, extortion, mischief, criminal intimidation, wrongful confinement and criminal conspiracy.
Police suspect Chakraborty of cheating and extorting around ₹200 crore from 18 complainants who have approached them so far.
The chargesheet, filed before a Barasat court, relates to a case registered at Baguiati police station in May and lodged by Abhijit Saha of Keshtopur.
Chakraborty, arrested last month by the Bengal Police Special Task Force in a separate Bidhannagar police case, could face life imprisonment if convicted.
