Indian Companies Boost CA, CS Hiring Despite Falling Exam Applications
Indian companies say they want to hire more chartered accountants and company secretaries.
A survey found that more than half of the organisations planned to increase these hires.
Many companies already bring CA and CS students in as interns.
Most of those interns are considered for interviews or full-time jobs.
However, fewer people are signing up for the CA Final exam than several years ago.
The number of people passing the exam has also changed from one exam attempt to another.
In 2024, more people passed than in the two listed attempts in 2025.
Women now make up a larger share of exam registrations than they did about a decade ago.
Aon’s survey found that 56% of organisations plan to increase hiring of Chartered Accountants and Company Secretaries.
Another 33% plan to keep CA and CS hiring unchanged, while 11% intend to reduce it.
CA and CS candidates recorded the strongest net hiring intent at plus 45 percentage points, ahead of interns at plus 20.
About 91% of organisations hire CA-CS interns, and 82% offer them pre-placement interviews or full-time positions.
CA Final registrations fell from 132,007 in May 2017 to 81,852 in September 2025, while women’s share rose to about 41%.
