Hyderabad is attracting many companies that run important business and technology work from the city.

A report says these Global Capability Centres could need 8–12 million square feet of new office space within three to five years.

The city could also add 50–70 new centres and more than 75,000 skilled jobs.

More than 515 such centres already employ over three lakh people in Hyderabad.

These centres work in areas such as technology, banking, healthcare, pharmaceuticals and engineering.

Some companies may use flexible or managed offices, creating another 2–3 million square feet of possible demand.

Most activity is expected in western Hyderabad, including Hitec City, Madhapur, Gachibowli, the Financial District and Kokapet.

The report says Hyderabad has a large skilled workforce and relatively lower office rents than the national average.

It also says GCC work is shifting toward research, engineering, analytics and digital functions.
