Flash floods hit central Nepal on Wednesday.

Nepal’s disaster authority gave different figures in the reports: one said 675 people had died, while several others said 626.

The reports also differed on how many people were missing, giving figures of nearly 2,400 or nearly 2,000.

Bodies were found in eight districts.

Chitwan had the largest reported number, with 233 bodies.

Rescue teams helped stranded people, but reports differed on whether about 2,500 or 4,400 people were rescued or evacuated.

Search and relief work continued for a fourth day on Saturday.

Officials warned that rising water levels could lead to another flood.
