JSW MG Unveils India's First Multi-Powertrain Platform
JSW MG has introduced a new car platform called ADAPT.
This platform can support four types of electric and hybrid cars: BEVs, HEVs, PHEVs, and REEVs.
BEVs are fully electric cars that need to be charged from an external source.
HEVs have a small battery and a petrol engine, which helps them be very fuel-efficient.
PHEVs have a bigger battery and can run on electric power for about 100 km before switching to petrol.
REEVs use a petrol engine to charge the battery, which then powers the car.
This new platform is a big step in making different types of electric and hybrid cars in India.
JSW MG unveiled ADAPT, India's first platform supporting four electrified powertrains: BEVs, HEVs, PHEVs, and REEVs.
BEVs are fully electric vehicles with varying battery sizes and ranges, from the MG Comet to the Mercedes-Benz EQS 450 SUV.
HEVs combine a small battery with a petrol engine, offering high fuel efficiency like the Honda City e:HEV and Toyota Hyryder hybrid.
PHEVs feature larger batteries and can run on electric power for about 100 km before switching to petrol, with upcoming models like the Mercedes-Benz S-Class PHEV and BYD Seal U PHEV.
REEVs use a petrol engine as an onboard generator to charge the battery, functioning like BEVs, with planned launches by Maruti Suzuki and MG.
