Gift Nifty, Kospi Rally, Oil Prices: Key Stock Market Cues
People who buy and sell company shares in India are watching several things before the stock market opens on Thursday.
The two big Indian market indexes, the Sensex and the Nifty 50, fell a little on Wednesday.
Markets in Asia mostly went up, and South Korea's Kospi jumped more than any other.
In the United States, the prices of everyday goods did not rise much in July, which made some investors feel calmer.
The price of oil went down on Thursday.
Experts think the world will need less oil in 2026 because of a conflict involving the US, Israel and Iran.
That same Middle East conflict is still worrying people, so oil prices remain high.
Gold stayed near $4,400 for one ounce.
More than 570 companies will tell investors how much money they made in the last three months.
All these clues help investors guess how India's stock market might move today.
The Sensex slipped 188 points (0.24%) to 77,966.35 and the Nifty 50 fell 36 points (0.15%) to 24,435.95 on Wednesday, a second straight losing session.
Asian markets mostly gained on Wednesday, with South Korea's Kospi up 4.48% and Japan's Nikkei 225 up 1.83%, though Hang Seng futures fell 0.87%.
US July CPI rose 0.1% month-on-month and 3.4% year-on-year, close to expectations, leaving Wall Street's Dow flat while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq rose 0.3% and 0.5%.
Oil prices fell more than $1 as analysts cut 2026 global demand forecasts over the US-Israeli conflict with Iran, with Brent at $87.69 and WTI at $81.97 a barrel.
