NSG Assesses Andaman Police Counter-Terrorism Preparedness
A team from India’s National Security Guard is checking how prepared the island police are for terrorist threats.
The check is called the Counter Terrorism Capability Assessment.
It began on October 5 and lasts six days.
The team reviewed the police’s equipment, procedures, teams and ability to move quickly.
Police personnel took physical tests and practised shooting at night.
They also carried out a pretend hostage-rescue exercise.
A total of 68 commandos took part.
The police chief said these checks can show what needs improvement.
The police said assessments like this will continue.
