District Collector Rahul Sharma urges farmers to grow vetiver
In a place called Mahadevpur, a government leader named Rahul Sharma wants to help farmers earn more money.
He told them they could grow a special plant called vetiver along with their regular crops.
Vetiver is a good plant to grow because it does not need much care.
It also gives benefits to farmers for a long time.
The government is giving out free vetiver plants to farmers.
About 1,200 farmers have been selected to receive the plants.
Each farmer will get 60 plants for their land.
Nearly 70,000 plants are ready to be given away.
The government will also help with taking care of the plants.
Mr. Sharma thanked the women's groups who helped run the plant nursery.
District Collector Rahul Sharma urged farmers to take up vetiver cultivation alongside traditional crops to increase their income.
He inspected a vetiver nursery developed under the District Rural Development Agency at Suraram village in Mahadevpur mandal on Thursday.
Vetiver requires low maintenance while providing long-term returns, and the Collector encouraged farmers to make use of government incentives.
About 1,200 farmers have been identified, and each will receive 60 vetiver saplings free of cost for 15 kunta of land.
Nearly 70,000 saplings are ready for distribution across six mandals, with maintenance support provided under the VIBGI Ramji scheme.
