India's entrance prep market to reach $23-26 billion by FY30
A consulting company called Redseer wrote a report about classes that help students in India get ready for very important exams.
These exams, called JEE and NEET, decide who gets into engineering and medical colleges.
The report says people are spending more and more money on these classes every year.
Right now, about $14.8 billion is spent on test preparation in India.
By the year FY30, that amount could grow to $23-26 billion.
Getting into the top colleges is very hard — only about 1 out of 100 students gets into an IIT, and about 3 out of 100 get a preferred government medical seat.
Students pick a coaching class mostly because of the teachers and the results the class has achieved in the past.
More coaching is moving online, using computers and AI to create personalised practice for students.
Many students do not want to move to big cities for coaching because living there makes it cost much more.
The report says coaching companies must show they can deliver good results to keep winning students.
India's test preparation market is projected to grow from about $14.8 billion in FY26 to $23-26 billion by FY30, a 12-15% CAGR, according to consulting firm Redseer.
Undergraduate entrance preparation, led by JEE and NEET, is expected to remain the key growth segment, growing from about $3.8 billion in FY26 to $6.5-7 billion by FY30.
JEE and NEET together account for nearly 70% of the undergraduate entrance test prep market.
Competition is intense, with success rates of around 1% for IIT admissions and 3% for preferred government medical seats.
Among offline aspirants surveyed, 57% ranked faculty quality among their top three considerations and 44% cited past results; 71% of Tier 1 and 67% of Tier 2+ aspirants outside major hubs said they were unwilling to relocate.
