Pune Police Face Two FIRs Over Alleged Custodial Abuse
Two criminal cases have been filed against police personnel in Pune.
The cases concern events that allegedly happened in July 2026.
One case involves four people who had surrendered at a police station.
They allegedly were beaten and publicly humiliated.
The other case involves eight children who were allegedly held too long and assaulted.
Some children were also allegedly taken through public places and insulted because of their caste.

Two FIRs were registered against Bharati Vidyapeeth police personnel following a Maharashtra State Human Rights Commission fact-finding inquiry.
The first FIR names 13 personnel over alleged assault and public humiliation of four accused who surrendered at the station in July 2026.
The second FIR concerns eight children allegedly detained beyond permitted periods, assaulted, publicly paraded and subjected to caste-based abuse.
