Steamer Runs Out of Fuel on Chambal River; Passengers Safe
A boat called a steamer was travelling on a big, very full river called the Chambal River.
The water was moving fast because the river had risen a lot.
About 40 people were on the boat, and they were going from a place called Ambah in Morena to a temple in Agra.
In the middle of the river, the boat used up all of its fuel and could not move.
The people on the boat were not wearing life jackets, which help keep people safe in the water.
Helpers from the local area brought diesel fuel to the boat so it could move again.
The boat safely made its way back to the riverbank.
Everyone on board was safe and no one was hurt.
Around 40 passengers were left stranded mid-river on Sunday morning after their steamer ran out of fuel on the swollen Chambal River in Bhind district, Madhya Pradesh.
The vessel, operated by the Uttar Pradesh Public Works Department from Agra, was operating without life jackets.
The passengers were travelling from Ambah tehsil in Morena to a temple in Bah tehsil of Agra.
Local authorities sent diesel supplies to refuel the steamer and safely navigate it back to the riverbank.
All passengers were safe, and Morena collector Lokesh Jangid has urged that such steamers be equipped with life jackets and SDRF personnel on board.
