Hero MotoCorp Q1 Net Profit Falls 16.9% Despite Revenue Growth
Hero MotoCorp is a big company that makes motorcycles and scooters.
It told everyone how it did in the first three months of its new financial year.
The profit it kept this year was lower than last year, dropping by about 17%.
But there is a reason for that.
Last year's profit included a special one-time gain of ₹722 crore that did not happen again this year.
Even so, the company sold many more vehicles this time around.
It sold 16.77 lakh motorcycles and scooters, which is 23% more than the same time last year.
The money it earned from selling vehicles also went up a lot.
The chief executive said the company started the new year with strong momentum.
So the company is doing well, even though its reported profit looks smaller.
Hero MotoCorp reported a 16.86% decline in consolidated profit after tax to ₹1,417.93 crore for the quarter ended June 30.
The year-ago profit of ₹1,705.65 crore included a one-time gain of ₹722 crore from dilution of its investment in associates.
Consolidated revenue from operations rose to ₹13,126.35 crore from ₹9,727.75 crore in the year-ago period.
The company sold 16.77 lakh motorcycles and scooters during the quarter, a 23% year-on-year growth.
Revenue from the Parts, Accessories and Merchandising (PAM) business grew 30% to ₹1,689 crore.
