Chakma Council to Implement NEP, Add Weekly Mizo Speaking Day
The Chakma council runs schools in part of Mizoram’s Lawngtlai district.
It plans to start following India’s National Education Policy in the 2027-28 school year.
Every Wednesday, students in its primary and middle schools will have a Mizo Speaking Day.
This will give children regular chances to learn and practice Mizo.
A committee will write the instructions for this programme.
The council also approved draft rules about moving elementary school teachers between posts.
Another committee must review those rules by October 10.
The council also wants to start a literacy programme and short meditation sessions, but these plans need approval and money.
